It’s here. NaNoWriMo starts Sunday.
Yikes.
Last year I didn’t participate, because I was completely engulfed in revisions on my novel, and refused to be bothered. This year I was tempted to do the same, but since the novel has been on a hiatus for the past couple of months, I thought I’d use NaNo as a catalyst to get me back on track.
So, I will be NaNoWriMo-ing, of a sort. There will be no new story completed in 30 days. There will be no new story. There will be no word goal for November. There may not even be a daily word quota (hmmm…). What there will be is every-day progress towards the completion of my novel. I will abandon all thought of revision and nitpicking, and commit to writing every day to finish the dang thing.
I just printed out a ream of paper, am reading through today and tomorrow (wow, that’s a lot of reading), and will immediately pick up where I left off, giving this train the caboose it needs.

I’m proclaiming this on my blog because I need some measure of permanence in my decision. No turning back. No waffling. No Excuses.
Let’s do this,
KJ
