“Love has bridged the high-rises of despair we were about to fall between. Love has been a penlight in the blackest, bleakest nights. Love has been a wild animal, a poultice, a dinghy, a coat. Love is why we have hope.”
~ Truth brought to you by St. Anne. *
Today it’s time to go on the offensive. It’s time to step out, in one or eleven little ways, and become the wild animal of love.
But how, you ask? How do we strengthen the web even when the world around us seems to be methodically tearing it apart? How on earth, in this sea of hatred and fear, can we manage to keep our own dinghy afloat, much less shove off into the darkness to rescue others?
I don’t rightly know, but I do know that a trillion pinprick stars can pierce the night with a flood of light. All it takes is reaching one finger out towards the universe. Then another. Your answers, for today, for tomorrow, might look a lot different than mine, but one thing is sure: together they will shine.
Be the penlight, be the poultice. Bring the hope, no matter how slight.
Time to love louder.
* Lamott, Anne Lamott , Almost Everything

A beautiful sentiment, but it does make me wonder how loudly they would be loving if they’d lost.

It might be loud, but I suspect it wouldn’t be love. I think we’ll have to take it upon ourselves to do it a little differently.
